Protest against France’s immigration laws
Immigration Law

Paris, the 5th of April.
A protest took place in Paris (as well as in other cities of France) and gathered thousands of demonstrators against French governement’s immigration law.

Several associations were altogether in this protest to denounce the latest laws that have limited and made more difficult for foreign people to become French in the last 5 years, as well as other laws easing expulsion of the country the clandestines.

this picture looks like communist imagery don’t you think ?… Comrades ! Tonight is the big night !

I don’t know about Communist imagery, but this certainly looks as though it could be 30, 40, 50 years old, perhaps even more – her face, hat, hair, as well as the general mood. The smoke in the background gives a wonderful effect, isolating the subject still further and turning her into more than just a woman who participated in a demonstration – making her a true icon, a symbol of all women who have demonstrated for causes they believe in – which, come to think of it, is, I guess, what Communist imagery tried to do.

Enough pseudo-analysis – this is just brilliant.

I totally agree with you about the Communist look here. I’m thinking KPD, circa 1927.
